Frank LeBlanc & Don BuedelDon Buedel and Frank LeBlanc

Van Colbert will be playing with Don & Frank at the festival this year.

Don & Frank play the traditional music of the Ozarks and southern hills. The fiddle waltzes, ancient murder ballads, and dance tunes have been handed down from generation to generation. They draw material from the Ozarks, Midwest and southern United States, including the rich heritage of local old-time fiddle, banjo and mandolin players, as well as published work of folklorists such as Vance Randolph, Alan Lomax and Irwin Silber.

Owing to their masterful renditions of the authentic Ozark tradition, Don Buedel and Frank LeBlanc are requested performers at Heritage Programs sponsored by the National Park Service and Missouri Department of Conservation.

Don Buedel is a veteran multi-instrumentalist and singer who has extensively researched the area's distinctive musical tradition, incorporating it into his own style. He has performed on National Public Radio and Old Time Music Venues throughtout the Midwest. His career highlights include an "F-Stop" performance on Springfield's KY-3 television, and a recent tour of Germany as Fiddle Accompanist for a Traditional American dance troupe.

Frank LeBlanc is a Cajun-French guitarist and singer who performed throughout Southeast Louisiana and New Orleans before moving to Shannon County, Missouri. He recorded "The Water is Wide" with New Orleans-based Les Amis, a band featured at the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival, the Celtic Nations Heritage Festival of Louisiana and Louisana Public Radio's Piney Woods Opry.
