FINE ARTS ACADEMY STUDENT PERFORMANCES
Performers from the Fine Arts Academy of The Avenue Theatre will be presenting skits from “Wind in the Willows” at 5:00, 6:00, and 7:00 p.m. in the Children’s Activities area both Friday and Saturday. Be sure to check in and catch one of these performances. This area will be in the grassy area near the stage on the East Civic Center lawn.
If you’re at the other end of the Festival campus, you can catch their performances in the Brush Arbor at 6:30 and 7:30 p.m. both days.
The Fine Arts Academy mission is to encourage young people to enjoy and participate in theater arts and teach them skills which will help develop their theater abilities, self-confidence and respect for themselves and others; to help young people see the many opportunities available to them; and to show how the world can be a better place through appreciation of the arts.
The Academy offers after-school programs, private tutoring, workshops, and evening classes in acting and technical aspects of theater. Public performances to showcase what has been learned is also presented. While young people, (through high school age) are the target audience, occasional workshops for adults may be offered.
“We are very pleased to once again be performing in conjunction with the festival,” said Erin Kimbrough, director. “Just as the festival celebrates our musical heritage, we will be celebrating our theatrical heritage through these performances.”
